{"id":2029,"date":"2015-05-22T12:07:19","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T11:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gojute.co.uk\/?p=1401"},"modified":"2023-08-15T11:09:46","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T10:09:46","slug":"i-love-hitchin-bag-launched-to-back-schools-clock-tower-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gojuteinternational.com\/en\/uncategorised\/i-love-hitchin-bag-launched-to-back-schools-clock-tower-campaign","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I Love Hitchin\u2019 bag launched to back school\u2019s clock tower campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here comes <a href=\"http:\/\/gojute.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-300x212.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1402 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/gojute.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"Hitchin community jute bag\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" \/><\/a>the \u2018must-have\u2019 accessory for any self-respecting Hitchin household \u2013 an exclusive \u2018I Love Hitchin\u2019 bag<\/p>\n<p>The bag is the brilliant brainchild of a Hitchin mum to help raise funds for a good cause \u2013 the renovation of an iconic clock tower at Wilshere Dacre Junior Academy.<\/p>\n<p>Faye Silver, whose eight-year-old daughter Mia is a pupil at the Fishponds Road school, told the Comet: \u201cMany people in Hitchin have attended Wilshere Dacre over the years and know of the clock tower.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately it\u2019s in need of some tender loving care as it\u2019s looking quite dilapidated and doesn\u2019t work properly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a real community spirit in Hitchin, people care about the town, and the response we\u2019ve had so far with the bag has been phenomenal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks really stylish. There\u2019s only been 1,000 made and they\u2019re flying off the shelves already.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of our sponsors will be selling the bag on our behalf. It\u2019s definitely Hitchin\u2019s \u2018must-have\u2019 item this year!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy sister did something similar to raise funds in her area, and I just thought it was a good fundraising idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to say thanks to town centre manager Keith Hoskins, all the businesses who have helped with sponsoring it, and my employers Raymond James.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also want people to send us their holiday snaps of them with the bag. If you\u2019re off to Paris or Ayers Rock on your travels, or anywhere else, we\u2019d love you to tweet us pictures holding our \u2018I Love Hitchin\u2019 bag in unusual places.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilshere Dacre head Sarah Smith said: \u201cThe bag is a fantastic idea. Our clock tower is in need of repair, and it\u2019s a great way to raise funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of all at the school I\u2019d like to say a huge thank you to Faye, who is chair of our PTA, for all her hard work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks also to Keith Hoskins for his help, and all the businesses who have supported it, as well as the Comet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully we\u2019ll see a lot of these bags around, and the school and the town will get a fully restored clock tower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Hoskins said: \u201cIt\u2019s a great idea. They\u2019ll be on sale in many shops and businesses around town and our office, too. I\u2019m definitely going to buy one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Faye\u2019s daughter Mia added: \u201cI\u2019m so proud of my mum for doing this. She\u2019s great.
