Montrose Academy
This coeducational school on the East coast of Scotland wanted to encourage pupils, parents and the local community to recycle more.
More than 7.5 billion plastic bottles are purchased in the UK every year, creating a mountain of single use plastic waste.
Pupils at Montrose Academy in Montrose Scotland wanted to do something about the plastic problem, and we at GoJute were happy to help.
The school’s team of recycling champions came up with a creative scheme to make recycling easy, with the help of our uncoated, eco-friendly 100% biodegradable jute bags.
The bags are available in every classroom throughout the school to collect plastic waste.
In the first three weeks, pupils had collected almost 600 bottles. These are passed to the local recycling centre, where they are sorted, processed and forwarded on to other facilities for melting and reuse.
Well done to all pupils and teachers involved – you’re our champions of the week!
