Transporting Jute Fibre

The third stage of the jute bag manufacturing process involves moving the jute fibre to where it can be processed

After the jute fibre undergoes the retting process, which involves the extraction of the fibres from the plant stem, and is subsequently dried, the next stage in its journey is transportation. Farmers typically load the dried jute fibres onto lorries or trucks for transport to various mills and factories. This crucial step marks the beginning of the industrial processing of jute, transforming it from a raw agricultural product into a versatile material.

"Our secure transportation practices and robust supply chain management helps to mitigate the risks"

Jute farms are typically located in rural or countryside areas where the climate and soil conditions are favourable for jute cultivation. On the other hand, jute mills and factories are often situated in or near cities where a skilled workforce is more readily available. This means that dried jute strips often have a journey of anywhere from a few hours to a day or more before they will reach their processing facility. Well organised logistics are crucial to ensure the timely delivery of the raw jute, to prevent any deterioration in quality.

Upon reaching the jute mill, the processing of jute into products such as jute bags begins relatively promptly. Since the duration of transit for the jute can influence its quality, it is essential to minimise delays to processing it to prevent any adverse effects on the fibres. Additional factors such as weather conditions can impact the timely delivery and quality of the raw jute. Adequate handling and storage during transit are essential to ensure that the jute reaches its destination in good condition.

While efforts are made to ensure the safe transport of jute, unforeseen circumstances such as accidents, theft, or natural disasters can pose risks to the cargo. Our secure transportation practices and robust supply chain management helps to mitigate the risks, but occasional challenges do still arise. The successful completion of the journey from the jute farm to the processing facility relies on a coordinated and well-managed supply chain system, and this is one reason why GoJute personally oversee this part of the process.
