ASDA, one of the UK’s largest and most recognisable supermarket retailers, needs no introduction, and GoJute is proud to have supported the business during a key period of change. During the introduction of the plastic bag tax in the UK, Asda faced an urgent sustainability challenge and needed to identify an effective alternative to single-use plastic bags that met new legislative requirements.

 

GoJute was able to find a solution by stepping in at the right time and designing a bespoke range of sustainable jute bags tailored to Asda’s needs. These durable, reusable bags provided a practical and compliant alternative to plastic, supporting Asda’s transition while maintaining quality, consistency, and a positive customer experience across stores.

Over a number of years, GoJute developed multiple customised jute bag ranges for Asda, including designs created to support Children in Need and cancer awareness campaigns. This demonstrated how sustainability could be successfully combined with social responsibility, using reusable bags as a platform to engage customers and raise awareness for important causes.

The project highlighted GoJute’s ability to respond quickly to regulatory change in the UK, deliver practical and effective solutions, and produce bespoke sustainable products for a major supermarket retailer.
