The Eden Project
In the late 1990s, a small group came together with a bold idea — to transform an abandoned clay pit into a living theatre of plants, people, and possibilities. What began as a vision to reconnect humanity with nature became The Eden Project, a global symbol of environmental education and positive action. From a barren, 60-metre-deep pit with no soil and little hope, Eden grew into a thriving ecosystem sustained by ingenuity, collaboration, and care for the planet.
Today, the Eden Project continues to inspire millions, demonstrating how human creativity can work hand in hand with nature to build a better future. Its mission is clear: to demonstrate and inspire positive action for the planet by reconnecting people with the natural world and empowering them to protect it. Through exhibitions, live events, and education programmes, Eden celebrates biodiversity, sustainability, and community — showing what’s possible when we act together.
When the Eden Project sought a partner to produce eco-friendly, ethically sourced bags that reflected its mission and values, GoJute was proud to collaborate. The goal was to create durable, sustainable products that not only served practical needs but also embodied Eden’s commitment to respect, protect, and repair our planet.
GoJute supplied two Fairtrade Organic Cotton Canvas Bag designs, both crafted from high-quality 8oz organic cotton in a natural finish. The bags were ethically produced and handmade in India to precise specifications, supporting fair labour practices and environmental responsibility at every stage of production.
A bespoke 8oz Organic Fairtrade Cotton Canvas Bag was developed and printed to Eden’s desired design, and has had many different prints over the years, aligning with different events. Measuring 38cm by 42cm, the bag features double-thickness 8oz cotton handles for comfort and strength. Every detail, from handle length to print placement, was carefully considered to ensure quality, longevity, and usability.
We also created a Bespoke Corn Starch Coated Small Jute Bag, printed and handmade in India, to Eden’s specific requirements. This compact design, measuring 27cm wide by 24cm high with a 17cm depth, features quality coated jute fabric with a 14/15 weave and luxury padded handles made from soft cotton.
The corn starch coating provides additional durability and a refined finish, making it ideal for smaller purchases while maintaining Eden’s commitment to natural, sustainable materials.
Each design reflects Eden’s dedication to ethical sourcing, sustainable materials, and everyday functionality — proving that small design choices can contribute to big environmental change.
These bags do more than hold purchases; they carry Eden’s message. Each one serves as a reminder that positive action for the planet begins with everyday decisions — like choosing natural fibres over synthetics, Fairtrade production over fast fashion, and reusability over waste. The clean, natural aesthetic complements Eden’s identity, while the craftsmanship ensures that these bags stand the test of time, encouraging visitors to reuse them again and again.
For GoJute, partnering with the Eden Project represents more than a supply relationship — it’s a shared commitment to a healthier, more sustainable world. Both organisations believe in the power of connection: between people, products, and the planet. By combining ethical manufacturing with thoughtful design, we’ve helped create bags that tell a story of responsibility and hope.
As the Eden Project continues to grow its global movement of environmental advocates, these Fairtrade bags serve as everyday ambassadors of its mission — reminding us all to respect, protect, and repair the natural world we share.
If your organisation is looking for sustainable, ethically sourced merchandise that reflects your values and supports positive change, GoJute can help.
