Worcestershire WI
Celebrating 100 years!
The Worcestershire Federation was originally formed in 1918 and was one of the first 6 in the country. They have now grown to have over 125 WI’s. The WI is a great way for people to get more involved in their community and form new life long friendships.
With 2018 being their centenary year Worcestershire WI wanted to create some memorabilia that would be useful to their members whilst sympathetic to WI campaigns and beliefs. One of our jute bags was the perfect fit, offering members a usable momento that they can re-use everyday and that also helps to reduce the amount of plastic bags polluting our environment.
To design the bag the WI held a logo competition where members were invited to design a new logo which Worcestershire Federation would adopt for the year. The winning design was by Gemma Dewson, Hot Peppers WI. It is such a striking design that incorporates the suffragette and WI colours as well as the pears for Worcestershire; all with a modern twist as they look forward to another one hundred years. The Federation thought it would look good on the bag – and they were most pleased with the result as the pale background of the bag sets the logo off beautifully!
